Four reasons I prefer movies over TV shows (aside from the ticket price). My top one? They provide an experience and a community with which to share it. The first films I saw in a theater were “Peter Pan” and “Star Wars,” and movies still have that “special event” quality for me. I fell in love with the hush as the lights dimmed and the curtains opened, the anticipation of going someplace new and wondering what it’ll be like to get there. I remember which films I saw with my mom, my brother, my dad, my husband, my friends and by myself. I love discussing the twists and performances, when I laughed or cried, and how when James Bond or Erin Brockovich triumphs, we can’t help cheering and don’t mind if others do.
See you at the movies…
