Let’s Resolve to Go to the Movies

Dec 2013 adaptations_cropWith so many book-inspired films headed our way in 2014, we lit lovers can’t help but resolve to go to the movies. Sure, the next chapters in “The Hunger Games” and “The Hobbit” sagas won’t arrive till year’s end, but there are plenty of other tales we’re eager to soak in before then, as I point out in my latest piece at Word & Film. Some personal picks: “The Monuments Men,” “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” “The Fault in Our Stars,” “Gone Girl,” “Winter’s Tale,” “Unbroken” (directed by Angelina Jolie, pictured with the film’s subject, Louis Zamperini), “Divergent,” “Edge of Tomorrow” and “Paddington,” with Colin Firth (many a reader’s favorite Mark Darcy) as the voice of the beloved bear from darkest Peru.
